Over 20 years ago, while sitting that first day in class to train as a Licensed Massage Therapist, I didn’t have scary little butterflies, I had huge doubts. Doubts if I even wanted to do massage, would I see this through to finish this class, and if it was too late to withdrawal my student loan funding packet. I’m still not exactly sure why I stayed that night, or even that whole first week, but I am so glad I did! At first, I couldn’t put into words why I should be going to massage school, I just felt like I should.
That very uncertain beginning and it is one of my favorite stories about how God and the universe has a plan for us all. It was through massage school that I learned how to take care of my own body, and others. I realized how our bodies are complex systems that operate as well as we take care of them. I learned to listen to my body, make adjustments if I felt like I needed to, and make more adjustments to feel even better. I was fortunate that my school taught Eastern Modalities and the Neuromuscular components. I started to realize the body is made up of energy, and those bones and muscles we hear so much about, are the bodies very own lever and pulley systems that help us operate.
It’s always hard to explain why I love massage therapy so much. I’ve had multiple body injuries, and truly could not wait to get back to massage. This has never been just a job for me. I know what it’s like to feel stuck in a body that you wish felt better, but you don’t want to rely on medication. I understand what it’s like to want to relax, but you can’t seem to ‘quiet’ your body. Massage therapy is my passion, and I love sharing this with the world for as long as it will let me. I cannot wait to meet you!
